Eat What You Want Day, Twilight Zone Day, School Nurse Day, more

May 11th, 2011 is Eat What You Want Day, Twilight Zone Day, National Night Shift or Third Shift Workers Day, National School Nurse Day, Donate a Day's Wages to Charity Day, and National Receptionist Day.

What will you have? Toasted ravioli and garlic bread. Chips and dip. Pad thai and chicken satay. Corn dogs and funnel cake. Steak and shrimp. Burgers and fries. Fries and caramel sauce (says my 11-year-old). Celebrate Eat What You Want Day today, but remember to eat what's good for you tomorrow.

Twilight Zone Day is here! Rod Serling's hit sci-fi series ran from 1959 to 1964. Guest stars included Jack Klugman, Burgess Meredith, Cliff Robertson, Anne Francis, Dick York, and Martin Landau.

National Night Shift or Third Shift Workers Day is always celebrated on the second Wednesday in May. Kudos to the people who keep the world running while the rest of us sleep!

National School Nurse Day was established "to foster a better understanding of the role of school nurses in the educational setting." National School Nurse Day is always celebrated on the Wednesday during National Nurse Week. (Thank you, Ms. Davis, for taking good care of my feverish daughter last week!)

Donate a Day's Wages to Charity Day is a wonderfully generous notion. At least consider participating!

On this day, show appreciation for the receptionist in your office. National Receptionist Day honors the so-called "Directors of First Impressions."
