First day of spring, Nowruz, Fragrance Day, more

March 21st, 2011, is the first day of spring, Nowruz, National Common Courtesy Day, Fragrance Day, World Down Syndrome Day, International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and National French Bread Day.

The first day of spring is a time for new beginnings.

Nowruz, the Persian New Year celebration, begins on the first day of spring and lasts for thirteen days.

Thank you so much for spending a few moments with me and my blog today. Would you care to sit? May I take your coat? Today is National Common Courtesy Day.

Did I mention you smell nice? Today is Fragrance Day.

World Down Syndrome Day is always celebrated on March 21st. 3/21 represents the 3 copies of chromosome 21, unique to people with Down Syndrome.

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination commemorates this date in 1960, when 69 people were gunned down during an anti-apartheid demonstration in South Africa.

Enjoy some delicious, crusty bread with butter or olive oil. Today is National French Bread Day.
