April 13th, 2011, is the first day of the Songkran Festival, National Ask An Atheist Day, National Scrabble Day, International Plant Appreciation Day, National Bookmobile Day, Thomas Jefferson Day, and National Peach Cobbler Day.

The Songkran Festival, celebrating entry of the sun into Aries, is observed in Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, and the Lao State, starting today. It's the traditional new year and a time for playing pranks. See the Google logo for this holiday.

National Ask An Atheist Day is meant to promote friendly dialogue between atheists and people of faith about atheism and secular matters.

Today is National Scrabble Day. Do you play small words strategically or aim for the eight-letter blitz?

We could not survive without plants. On International Plant Appreciation Day, celebrate by admiring plants, eating plants, or growing plants. Oh, and just breathe the air, oxygenated by plants.

National Bookmobile Day is always celebrated on Wednesday of Library Week. Bookmobiles are a great supplement to school libraries.

On this date we celebrate Thomas Jefferson Day, in honor of the third President of the United States.

Run, don't walk, to your local farmer's market or fresh produce store and stock up on sweet, juicy peaches. Today is National Peach Cobbler Day.
