Easter, Pinhole Photography Day, Mother Father Deaf Day, more

April 24th, 2011, is Easter, Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day, Mother Father Deaf Day, National Pigs-in-a-Blanket Day, and World Meningitis Day.

Easter celebrates the resurrection of Christ, a central event of Christianity. Easter always occurs between March 22nd and April 25th. The holiday hasn't fallen on April 24th since 1859! The name Easter is not found in the Bible - it comes from Eastre, the Teutonic Goddess of Spring.

Take a pinhole photograph on the last Sunday in April each year, then upload it to the Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day website. Be part of a worldwide event!

Mother Father Deaf Day is always celebrated on the last Sunday in April, to bring together families in which a parent (or both parents) is deaf.

The recipe varies around the world, but everybody loves pigs-in-a-blanket. Have some today, in honor of National Pigs-in-a-Blanket Day.

World Meningitis Day is meant to heighten awareness of "the silent killer," a deadly disease that often strikes children and teens.
