All Is Ours Day, Empanada Day, Hanamatsuri Flower Festival, more

April 8th, 2011, is All Is Ours Day, Draw a Picture of a Bird Day, Hanamatsuri Flower Festival, and National Empanada Day.

All Is Ours Day is whatever you want it to be. No one seems to know the true origin or meaning behind this day, so make your own rules. Just try to avoid getting slapped or arrested.

Today is Draw a Picture of a Bird Day, so gather your pencils, markers, and crayons. Memorialize the Twitter bird, your parakeet, or a robin in the yard. Have fun!

Hanamatsuri, Japanese for "flower festival," commemorates the birth of Buddha. The day is also known as Kanbutsue or Goutane. Celebrants pour sweet tea over statues of baby Buddha.

Empanadas are so delicious, they deserve at least one day of recognition. Visit your fave Mexican restaurant and celebrate National Empanada Day.
