Food Day, United Nations Day, Bologna Day, more

October 24th, 2011, is Food Day, United Nations Day, World Development Information Day, International School Library Day, Independence Day (Zambia), Labour Day (New Zealand), National Good & Plenty Day, and National Bologna Day.

Food Day promotes six principles, two of which are improving the eating habits of Americans and supporting sustainable farms.

United Nations Day commemorates the formation of the United Nations on this date in 1945.

The United Nations sponsors World Development Information Day on October 24th: "Information and communications technologies have the potential to provide new solutions to development challenges, particularly in the context of globalization, and can foster economic growth, competitiveness, access to information and knowledge, poverty eradication and social inclusion."

International School Library Day falls on the fourth Monday of October. Support the library system at your school or district.

Zambia observes Independence Day on October 24th.

New Zealand observes Labour Day on this date.

Just one week before Halloween the spotlight falls on one specific candy - Good & Plenty. Especially if you're fond of licorice, celebrate National Good & Plenty Day.

It's okay to be full of baloney/bologna today, National Bologna Day.
