Personal Chef Day, Get Out of the Doghouse Day, more

July 16th, 2012, is National Personal Chef Day, National Get Out of the Doghouse Day, Marine Day (Japan), Fresh Spinach Day, and National Corn Fritters Day.

July 16th is Personal Chef Day. Maybe they could whip up some corn fritters on a bed of fresh spinach. (Followed by creme brulee!)

National Get out of the Doghouse Day is always observed on the third Monday in July. What will you do to make up for past mistakes?

Marine Day is a newer holiday in Japan, celebrated on the third Monday in July since 2003. It is a day to admire the creatures of the sea and protect them for future generations.

My family prefers fresh spinach over cooked, so Fresh Spinach Day is perfect. A nice spinach salad with pecans, feta, croutons, and a reasonable amount of sesame dressing is light, healthy, and refreshing.

Try a southern specialty today in honor of National Corn Fritters Day.
