Paper Bag Day, Eat Your Jello Day, Pecan Pie Day, more

July 12th, 2012, is Paper Bag Day, Different Colored Eyes Day, Simplicity Day, Eat Your Jello Day, USA Woman VP Day, Independence Day (Sao Tome and Principe), Battle of the Boyne, and National Pecan Pie Day.

July 12th is Eat Your Jell-O Day and also the birthday of Bill Cosby. Remember when he used to do television commercials for Jell-O Pudding? I can't find much documentation for this holiday, but it's worth mentioning just so I can link to this portrait of Cosby made of Jell-O shots!

July 12th is USA Woman VP Day, commemorating the date in 1984 when presidential candidate Walter Mondale selected Geraldine Ferraro as his running mate.

The Republic of Sao Tome and Principe observes Independence Day, celebrating independence from Portugal since 1975.

Northern Ireland remembers the 1690 Battle of the Boyne on July 12th, even though the battle actually took place on July 1st. That's the result of converting the date from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar.
