Martinmas honors Saint Martin of Tours. Many eat goose on this date, because a honking goose revealed the hiding spot of Saint Martin when he was hiding from clergy who wanted to make him Bishop. Old folklore holds that one can stand in the back of a church on Martinmas and see auras around the heads of congregants who will not be living by the next Martinmas.
Angola observes Independence Day on November 11th.
Rhodesia celebrates Independence Day today.
November 11th is National Sundae Day. Many other sundae holidays are on the calendar, including National Strawberry Sundae Day on July 7th and National Hot Fudge Sundae Day on July 25th, but today's sundae day is non-specific. Go crazy!
