Tourist Day, Chicken Boy Day, Orthodox New Year, more

September 1st, 2011. is Tourist Day, Chicken Boy Day, National No Rhyme (Nor Reason) Day, Toy Tips Executive Toy Test Day, Emma M. Nutt Day, Building and Code Staff Appreciation Day, Orthodox New Year, Ganesh Chaturthi, Independence Day (Uzbekistan), and National Cherry Popover Day.

Torremolinos, Spain celebrates Tourist Day, or Dia del Tourista, today. Along with parades, music, dancing, and costumes, the town offers tourists free sangria and fried fish. They also create a giant paella on the beach.

Chicken Boy Day is a time for Los Angeles residents to remember an icon of yesteryear. Chicken Boy once stood atop a restaurant bearing the same name.
