Labor Day, Be Late for Something Day, Cheese Pizza Day, more

September 5th, 2011, is Labor Day, Be Late for Something Day, Teachers' Day (India), and National Cheese Pizza Day.

Labor Day, celebrated since 1882 in the U.S., takes place on the first Monday in September. Labor Day honors those who fought for fair pay and reasonable working conditions for all. Many countries celebrate Labor Day, but not always on the same date.

Today is a national holiday, so many of us have no strict schedule. Nevertheless, today is Be Late for Something Day. Perhaps the ultimate way to celebrate Be Late for Something Day is by being a whole day late, so consider waiting until tomorrow. Then you could be late for work or school!

India celebrates Teachers' Day on September 5th, the birth date of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, a well-known educator and philosopher.

What's your favorite combination of pizza toppings? At the moment I'm partial to a Mediterranean assemblage of feta, chicken and spinach, but classic pepperoni is yummy too. But the base of virtually all pizza is a simple cheese pizza. Enjoy your favorite today in honor of National Cheese Pizza Day.
