Get Ready Day, Rum Punch Day

September 20th, 2011, is Get Ready Day and National Rum Punch Day. It's a light day, holiday-wise.

Get Ready Day, sponsored by the American Public Health Association, is a day for Americans to "prepare themselves, their families and their communities for all disasters and hazards, including pandemic flu, infectious disease, natural disasters and other emergencies." Let's hope this level of preparedness is achieved but never truly needed.

National Rum Punch Day should have been observed yesterday, along with International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Arrrr! Oh well. Maybe I'll have just a little rum punch....
