Dance Day, Father-in-Law Day, Cheesecake Day, more

July 30th, 2011 is National Dance Day, Father-in-Law Day, Feast Day of St. Wilfred, and National Cheesecake Day.

The second annual National Dance Day, organized by the creative forces who give us So You Think You Can Dance?, takes place today. Everyone is invited to participate by learning one of three dances, based on skill and fitness, then dancing with friends. Many plan to gather at Six Flags theme parks. The goal is to be healthy and have fun!

Father-in-Law Day honors the second father in your life, the one you get when you marry the love of your life. My father-in-law passed away recently, and I miss our long talks. Appreciate time together while you have it.

The Saturday before the first Monday in August is celebrated in Yorkshire as the Feast Day of St. Wilfred, commemorating the return of St. Wilfred from Rome to Ripon, North Yorkshire in 636 A.D. Festivities include a procession with a man dressed as St. Wilfred and elaborate parade floats.

After you work off some calories by dancing, relax with a decadent dessert and pack those calories back on. Happy National Cheesecake Day!
