February 18th, 2014, is Cow Milked While Flying in an Airplane Day, Thumb Appreciation Day, National Battery Day, Independence Day (Gambia), National Drink Wine Day, and National Crab-Stuffed Flounder Day.
Now here's an unusual holiday - Cow Milked While Flying in an Airplane Day! Apparently on this date in 1930 a cow name Elm Farm Ollie became the first cow to fly in an airplane. My own St. Louis, Missouri, played a role in this bit of history, too. Containers of milk were dropped from the plane by parachute over the city. Is this sort of like the Mile High Club for cows?
On Thumb Appreciation Day, forget about those index fingers and pinkies. All the love goes to the thumbs.
Where would we be without batteries to power everything from our gadgets to our cars? Get charged up about batteries on National Battery Day.
Gambia observes Independence Day on February 18th, celebrating independence from Britain since 1964.
National Drink Wine Day is self-explanatory. Cheers!
Today brings a foodie holiday that is uber specific! If you love seafood, celebrate National Crab-Stuffed Flounder Day.
