Hugging Day, Squirrel Appreciation Day, more

January 21st, 2014, is Naional Speak Up and Succeed Day, Rid the World of Fad Diets and Gimmicks Day, National Hugging Day, National Squirrel Appreciation Day, Fancy Rat and Mouse Day, National Granola Bar Day, and New England Clam Chowder Day.

The fourth Tuesday in January is National Speak Up and Succeed Day. Speak up about your accomplishments to your boss, your teacher, your family, anyone in a position to appreciate your efforts and perhaps reward them.
Today is Rid the World of Fad Diets and Gimmicks Day.  Don't ride the latest dietary trend, just eat less and exercise more.
National Hugging Day is actually an international event. Everybody needs a hug sometimes. Just be sure your hug is welcome. Hug your loved ones.

Sorry, but this next holiday is one I refuse to celebrate. Squirrels once invaded our attic, disturbing our wiring and our sleep, so National Squirrel Appreciation Day will come and go without my participation.

If squirrels aren't your thing, how about Fancy Rat and Mouse Day? Again, I'll sit this one out.

National Granola Bar Day celebrates a convenient, sometimes healthy, breakfast or snack option.

Here's a holiday I'm always willing to celebrate - New England Clam Chowder Day. Delicious!
