Plant a Flower Day, Eskimo Pie Day, more

March 12th, 2014, is Plant a Flower Day, Girl Scouts Day, No Smoking Day, Registered Dietitian Day, Independence Day (Maritius), Baked Scallops Day, and Eskimo Pie Day.

Today is Plant a Flower Day. I may not get around to a literal celebration for this holiday, but I'll gladly step outside and search for newly-bloomed daffodils here in St. Louis.

Girl Scouts Day is always observed on March 12th. In 2014, March 12th is the 102nd birthday of the Girl Scouts. Happy Birthday!

No Smoking Day is observed on the second Wednesday in March. Here's to all the smokers out there who want to kick the habit!

While trying to stop smoking, why not try to improve your diet as well? Today is Registered Dietitian Day.

Mauritius observes Independence Day on March 12th, celebrating independence since 1968.

Baked Scallops Day is the perfect time to enjoy some low-fat, delicious seafood. If you decide to saute rather than bake, I won't tell!

Eskimo Pie Day honors a popular ice cream treat - ice cream on a stick, encased in a chocolate shell. What's not to like?
