While you're learning about butterflies, don't neglect the spiders. Today is Save a Spider Day. If you find a spider where a spider is not welcome, move him outdoors with a glass and a postcard.
World Sleep Day is meant to raise awareness about sleep disorders and other issues related to sleep. On a lighter note, it's also an opportunity to catch up on that lost hour of sleep from Daylight Savings Time last weekend.
On National Children's Craft Day, perhaps the kidlets could make cool sculptures or collages featuring butterflies and spiders.
3/14 is National Pi Day, since the first digits of pi are 3.14. Create some circles to celebrate. Make some circles out of flaky pastry and use them to make a pie, if you're so inclined.
International Ask a Question Day might inspire you to inquire, "what is pi?" or "why are butterfly wings so colorful?" What a great tie-in with holidays mentioned above.
Today is National Potato Chip Day. This brings to mind a question, based on the Lay's marketing slogan: Can you eat just one?
