Belmont Stakes, Upsy Daisy Day, Name Your Poison Day, more

June 8th, 2013, is Belmont Stakes, Upsy Daisy Day, Best Friends Day, Clean Air Day, World Oceans Day, and National Name Your Poison Day.

Today brings the Belmont Stakes. Orb is the favorite to win, at 3:1 odds.

As a Mom, I would schedule Upsy Daisy Day during the school year to coax my tween daughter out of bed. Oh well. Here's wishing everyone a cheerful upsy-daisy day.

Whether you have one special friend or a group of BFFs, do something special in honor of Best Friends Day. Start by sending an e-card to give them the warm fuzzies.

Sure wish I could be in New York City today. In honor of World Oceans Day the Empire State Building will be lit in white, blue, and purple. Lovely! This UN-created event has been celebrated since 2009. The theme for World Oceans Day 2013 is "Oceans and People."

On National Name Your Poison Day, what would you like to drink? I could go for an Amaretto Sour. Cheers!
