Frog Jumping Day, Tulip Day, more

May 13th, 2013, is Frog Jumping Day, Tulip Day, National Women's Check-Up Day, and National Apple Pie Day.

Frog Jumping Day is inspired by Mark Twain's short story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County." The story is also known as "The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" or "Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog" (original title).

Tulip Day is a lovely way to celebrate spring. Send ecards to your friends, then gather a tulip bouquet for your table.

National Women's Check-Up Day, during National Women's Health Week, is a friendly reminder for us all. Schedule that check-up you've been procrastinating about (even if you're not a woman).

In the United States we like to talk about baseball, hot dogs and apple pie, but apple pie originated in Europe. Oh well. Celebrate National Apple Pie Day.
