Beaufort Scale Day, Homebrew Day, more

May 7th, 2013, is Beaufort Scale Day, National Teacher Day, Victory in Europe Day, National Homebrew Day, and National Roast Leg of Lamb Day.

Beaufort Scale Day honors Sir Francis Beaufort, who devised the first scale for measuring the intensity of hurricanes.

National Teacher Day is always observed on Tuesday of the first full week in May. Thank a teacher who made a difference in your life or in the life of your child.

Victory in Europe Day, also known as VE Day, commemorates the end of Hitler's Germany. The final document of surrender was signed on May 7th, 1945. Some countries celebrate this event on May 7th; others on May 8th.

The first Tuesday in May is World Asthma Day.

National Homebrew Day celebrates the hobby of brewing beer at home. If any of you brewmasters need a taste tester, please be in touch!
