No Socks Day, Teacher Day, Have a Coke Day, more

May 8th, 2012, is No Socks Day, National Teacher Day, Victory in Europe Day, Time of Remembrance and Reconciliation for Those Who Lost Their Lives During the Second World War, World Red Cross Crescent Day, Have a Coke Day, and National Coconut Cream Pie Day.

Go bare or wear sandals on No Socks Day. Oh, and get ready - tomorrow is Lost Sock Memorial Day.

National Teacher Day is always observed on Tuesday of the first full week in May. Thank a teacher who made a difference in your life or in the life of your child.

Victory in Europe Day, also known as VE Day, commemorates the end of Hitler's Germany. The final document of surrender was signed on May 7th, 1945. Some countries celebrate this event on May 7th; others on May 8th.

Time of Remembrance and Reconciliation for Those Who Lost their Lives during the Second World War - the title says it all. This event runs from May 8th to May 9th, although our gratitude should continue throughout the year.

World Red Cross Red Crescent Day is a time to thank the many volunteers who do good work around the globe, easing suffering caused by natural disasters, disease, war, poverty, hunger, and climate change.

The date is a bit sketchy - sometime during early May - but many sites report that May 8th is Have a Coke Day. Celebrating is easy and delicious, so why not?

Share some pie with the one you love on National Coconut Cream Pie Day.
