Hairstyle Appreciation Day, Jazz Day, more

April 30th, 2013, is Hairstyle Appreciation Day, Honesty Day, Jazz Day, Spank Out Day, Beltane, Walpurgis Night, and Oatmeal Cookie Day.

Hairstyle Appreciation Day reminds me of my old Barbie Beauty Center, which featured a life-sized Barbie head attached to a tray, with compartments for makeup and hair accessories. A piece of Barbie's hair could be pulled out to be extra long, or sucked back into her scalp for a shorter 'do. If only we could do that.

It's important to be honest, but also wise to know when a harmless "white lie" is called for. Celebrate the spirit of Honesty Day.

Depending on who you ask, Jazz Day is April 13th or April 30th. Either way, enjoy some great music.

Spank Out Day spreads a message of "Raising responsible (good) kids without hitting."

Today is Beltane, a spring fertility festival for Wiccans. Enjoy these selected songs for the occasion.

Walpurgis Night in Sweden features bonfires, spring songs, night life, and birthday wishes for King Karl XVI Gustaf.

Today is National Oatmeal Cookie Day, not to be confused with National Lacy Oatmeal Cookie Day, celebrated in March. But have whichever kind you like. I won't tell!
