April 19th, 2013, is Day of Silence, National Hanging Out Day, Bicycle Day, Humorous Day, Oklahoma City Bombing Commemoration Day, National Amaretto Day, and Garlic Day.
The Day of Silence, founded in 1996, is a day when students join together, taking a vow of silence to draw attention to "the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools."
National Hanging Out Day isn't what you might think. Project Laundry List asks us to consider line drying our clothes, to save money and energy.
Bicycle Day isn't what you might think, either. Bicycle Day marks the date in 1943 when Dr. Albert Hoffman took LSD on purpose for the first time, causing him to bicycle home from his lab. This political activist is better known as Abbie Hoffman.
On Humorous Day, remember that a little laughter is a great coping mechanism.
On this date in 1995, the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA was bombed, killing 168. Remember them on Oklahoma City Bombing Commemoration Day.
Enjoy some amaretto cookies or an amaretto sour today, National Amaretto Day, in honor of a delicious Italian almond liqueur.
Enjoy a garlicky meal on Garlic Day - vampires excluded.
