10-11-12, Kraken Day, World Sight Day, Sausage Pizza Day, more

October 11th, 2012, is 10-11-12, Kraken Day, "You Go, Girl" Day, It's My Party Day, Coming Out Day, World Sight Day, National Depression Screening Day, Macedonian National Uprising Day, General Pulaski Memorial Day, and National Sausage Pizza Day.

Number geeks, rejoice! Today is 10-11-12.

Kraken Day is part of the annual Cephalopod Days celebration. Enjoy the images below, in tribute:

"You Go, Girl" Day is a time to celebrate all things girly, feminine, and independent.

October 11th is always It's My Party Day. If you need a reason, feel free to embrace any holiday on today's list. How about a pizza party? You could serve sausage pizza for National Sausage Pizza Day, pepperoni cut to resemble kraken for Kraken Day, and eggplant pizza with ajvar for Macedonian National Uprising Day. Have fun!

The World Health Organization promotes World Sight Day on the second Thursday in October, to "focus global attention on blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired."

The second Thursday in October is National Depression Screening Day. If you or someone you love might need help, please get screened.

Macedonia observes Macedonian National Uprising Day on October 11th, remembering the people's uprising against fascism during World War II.

General Pulaski Memorial Day honors the Polish-born Casmir Pulaski, who supported the colonists against England during the American Revolution. He became known as the "Father of the American Cavalry."

As if most of us need another excuse to eat pizza, today we celebrate National Sausage Pizza Day.
