Take Your Daughter to Work Day, Shuffleboard Day, more

April 26th, 2012, is Take Your Daughter to Work Day, National Kids and Pets Day, Poem in Your Pocket Day, Hug a Friend Day, Shuffleboard Day, Richter Scale Day, World Intellectual Property Day, and Pretzel Day.

Take Your Daughter to Work Day is observed on the fourth Thursday in April. Since I work from home, it's not much of a field trip for my twelve-year-old!

National Kids and Pets Day - because the two naturally go together! Since my daughter is at work with me today and Shimmer the Blog Dog is always here, they're all set.

Who could argue with a concept so friendly as Hug a Friend Day?

Even if you're not on a cruise ship or at a resort, take a mini vacation by playing shuffleboard. Wear flip-flops and drink lemonade to enhance the mood. Today is Shuffleboard Day.

Richter Scale Day honors the birth date of Charles Richter, inventor of the scale that measures the intensity of earthquakes.

World Intellectual Property Day is meant to raise awareness about the ins and outs of intellectual property, including copyright protection and fair use.

Nab a free pretzel today if you happen to be in a mall with a participating store, in honor of National Pretzel Day.
