Celebrations for the week of April 3-9, 2011

The following celebrations take place between April 3rd and April 9th, 2011: Be Kind to Spiders Week, National Week of the Ocean, Window Safety Week, Blue Ribbon Week, and Explore Your Career Options Week.

This is Be Kind to Spiders Week! Yes, that's right. For this week at least, try to resist the urge to stomp, spray, or squash our eight-legged planet-mates. Consider this - a small spider off in the corner of your ceiling can reduce the population of other annoying critters in your home.

Celebrate the 26th National Week of the Ocean in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to help "preserve the ocean for future generations."

The National Safety Council asks everyone to think about the safety of their children near open windows during Window Safety Week.

Blue Ribbon Week is a chance for kids in grades 5-12, along with college students, to acknowledge the importance of self and others through a variety of activities.

Crayola offers a variety of lesson plans and crafts to help children think about the future during Explore Your Career Options Week.
