Holiday Whiz Blogiversary, Quinquagesima Sunday, more

February 19th, 2012, is the Holiday Whiz Blogiversary, Temporary Insanity Day, Palindrome Day, Meatfare Sunday, Shrove Sunday, Quinquagesima Sunday, Shrove Sunday, Cracker Jack Day, and National Chocolate Mint Day.

One year ago today, I published my first blog post as The Holiday Whiz. Thanks for your support, loyal readers and friends. Hmmm.....any suggestions about how I should celebrate my Blogiversary?

The world is your oyster, so to speak, on Temporary Insanity Day. Do whatever you feel then plead temporary insanity. Smother that oyster with Temporary Insanity Sauce and have a crazy day!

Today marks the final Palindrome Day in our consecutive series, which ran from 2-10-12 through today, 2-19-12. Whew!

Meatfare Sunday marks the last Sunday when members of the Orthodox Church are allowed to eat meat, until the end of Great Lent.

Quinquagesima Sunday, also known as Shrove Sunday, is the fiftieth day before Easter. Take time today to learn the correct pronunciation of this holiday!

February 19th is Cracker Jack Day, the snack you're supposed to buy at the ball game, along with peanuts. One hundred years ago today, in fact, the first toy was placed in a Cracker Jack box! Now that's a moment in history.

National Chocolate Mint Day brings together two beloved flavors - chocolate and mint. Have them in a beverage, a candy, a cookie, or some crazy savory concoction you might dream up.
