Chinese New Year, Snowplow Mailbox Hockey Day, more

January 23rd, 2012, is Chinese New Year, Snowplow Mailbox Hockey Day, National Handwriting Day, Compliment Day, Measure Your Feet Day, and National Pie Day.

Welcome to the Year of the Dragon! Today brings the Chinese New Year, year 4709 in the Chinese Calendar. Festivities include fireworks, dragon dancing, and lion dancing (not line dancing). People clean their houses thoroughly, to drive away bad fortune.

Believe it or not, today is Snowplow Mailbox Hockey Day. If you have access to a snowplow, please keep in mind that there are laws against that sort of thing. Oh, and if you have access to a snowplow and the inclination to play mailbox hockey, please avoid the mailboxes attached to houses. Yikes!

National Handwriting Day is the centerpiece of January's National Handwriting Analysis Week.
