Green Monday, Christmas Card Day, Pastry Day, more

December 9th, 2013, is Green Monday, Weary Willy Day, Christmas Card Day, International Anti-Corruption Day, Independence Day (Tanzania), and National Pastry Day.

The second Monday in December is known as Green Monday, traditionally the biggest shipping day prior to Christmas. Have you mailed your holiday gifts yet? I can't worry about shipping while I'm still shopping.

Weary Willy Day celebrates the clown character created by the beloved Emmett Kelly. Kelly was born on December 9th, 1898.

Christmas Card Day is, presumably, a subtle kick in the pants for those of us who haven't started working on our Christmas cards yet.

The United Nations supports International Anti-Corruption Day. In 2011 Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon writes: "Corruption is a barrier to achieving the Millennium Development Goals and needs to be taken into account in defining and implementing a robust post-2015 development agenda."

Tanzania observes Independence Day on December 9th.
