The theme of World Tourism Day in 2012 is "Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Sustainable Development." The purpose of World Tourism Day is "to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value."

Today is Ancestor Appreciation Day, also known as Honor Your Ancestors Day. Celebrate by sharing photos and stories about your ancestors with younger members of your family, or by asking older relatives about your heritage. Such stories are priceless.
